Difference between Hangouts and Hangouts on Air
Greetings!
Sheryl Loch and her friends explain when you might want to do a Hangout, and when to use Hangouts on Air. Also, they provide lots of helpful cautions and advice.

Goodbye, Oscar.
Greetings!
Our good friend, Oscar Chavez, is leaving his position as Executive Director of Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County. The love for him, and his impact, couldn't have been said better than in this video at the staff pot luck party last week.

Google+ Tools
Greetings!
As most of you know, I've spent my life helping nonprofit organizations. My strategies have always been to support the development of low-cost solutions to improve their performance. I've helped bring them into existence by working when a student at College of Marin and Sonoma State to carry dozens of groups through the incorporation process. Over the last 40 years, I've worked to improve their operations as a program volunteer, staff member, governing board member, and donor to nonprofits serving needs of Marin and Sonoma residents.
My latest contributions continue an effort begun in the 1980's to utilize the latest microcomputer technology at the lowest cost possible. That's why I wrote an accounting software (Simple Nonprofit Accounting Program), designed to run on the first microcomputers available, and put the price at 10% of the current market price. And I included for the first time a feature which allowed income and expenses to be spread to up to 20 programs and 40 grants. That led to a couple of decades of knowing more about accounting software than almost anyone.
Each new advance in technology has given me a chance to experiment with it personally, and then pass on what I've learned to the nonprofit world I'm connected with. I funded and maintained websites for public and nonprofits in the 90's, and creatd videos which told the stories of their work. Lately, I'm excited about the opportunities presented by free broadband communication tools appearing on laptops and mobile phones. I'm learning ways to provide low-cost, multi-user audio/video communication, coupled with live transmission worldwide, using tools most nonprofits already have. Communication has always been a barrier to small nonprofits, whose priorities have remained focused on direct service to clients, and who have not been able to utilize mainstream media tools.
Google + is a game changer for meetings, trainings, and project management. It puts the tools of mainstream media squarely into your hands.

New Blog for Volunteer Videos

Greetings!
I just wanted all of you who visit this blog to know that another one has been established which will focus on sharing videos describing opportunities to volunteer in your communities. I'm intentionally collecting and producing videos which are short enough to run well on handheld communications (Cell phones, Ipods, etc.) and which don't have much delay when played on systems with limited memory.
Check it out at Voluntter Videos
If you know of videos which should be featured on the blog, let me know.
